Monday Catch-Up: Tomb Kings Pre-Orders Open, Amazon’s 40K Series Still Quiet

Two Warhammer stories we ran last week were waiting on answers. One got a date, and the other is still waiting. Here is where each stands on Monday.

Tomb Kings: pre-orders opened Saturday, but the price is still soft. When we covered the Host of Nehekhara box, we had no price and no pre-order date. The date is now settled. iXBT Games reported that pre-orders would open on October 24, and Spikeybits put the start at about 1 p.m. Eastern that Saturday on the Games Workshop webstore.

The price is the part we can’t hand you with confidence. Spikeybits lists $227.50 in the US for the 78-model set and $30 for the Arcane Journal: The River of Bones. But its own text says Games Workshop had not listed a price when it wrote, and we couldn’t find a second source for either number. Treat them as unconfirmed and check the Games Workshop store before you plan a budget. What is confirmed, per Warhammer Community, is that the boxed set, the dice and the cards are only available while stocks last, so waiting a few weeks to think it over carries a real risk.

Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 series: nothing new. After Mike Flanagan’s comments on adapting it, we looked for any newer word on the format, the cast or a date. We found nothing past what we already reported. The most recent official detail we could find is still the one from Games Workshop’s annual report, as summarized by T-Break: initial outlines are done, scripting comes next, Henry Cavill is still attached, and there is no release date. Whether it ends up a series or a film is still not confirmed.

That is a quieter week than we’d like on the Amazon side, and a useful one on the Tomb Kings side. The one open question that costs you money is the box price, and we’ll know it for certain once Games Workshop’s own store page says so.
